Once you’ve reached the limits of a set of standard Pilot Powers, you’ll find yourself spinning your rear tire as the rider on full-race rubber leaves you with his superior traction. Of course, UNTIL you’ve reached that point, the standard Powers will offer you increased tire life. The second drawback is that these tires won’t tolerate extreme heat. Once the ambient temperature gets to 80 degrees or above, a more aggressive rider can get Pilot Powers hot enough that they start to become greasy. At this point, the advanced rider will want to invest in full-race tires.
